Options for Acne Scars Treatment

by Martha Fitzharris

For many people, acne scars are a constant reminder of the acne that plagued them as teenagers. It is no wonder that those individuals are in search of the best acne scar treatment available.

The best scar treatment for your problems will depend largely on your age, your type of skin, and the extent of your scarring. Therefore, it is safe to say that the best treatment for acne scars can only be determined individually. Nevertheless, it would be wise to inform yourself on the different types of treatment that are available to everyone.

Acne Scar Treatment Options

Shallow acne scarring can be removed or minimized using less invasive procedures such as dermabrasion and chemical peels. Both of these methods are geared towards eliminating the outer most layer of your skin. If the acne scars are superficial then this is probably the way to treat them.

Microdermabrasion is another type of treatment that is a milder alternative to dermabrasion. As such, it is highly likely that you'll need more sessions to produce similar effects. On a positive note, microdermabrasion does not require anesthesia.

You can also get rid of acne scars with laser resurfacing. This skin care method is best for shallow imperfections, but it has become very popular in the last few years due to the positive results and moderate downtime.

Ice pick scar removal is a bit more complicated because of the depth of the scar tissue. In this type of situation, your best choice is usually subcision or punch techniques. Punch techniques involve surgically removing the scar tissue and replacing it with a suture or graft. Sometimes, the same scar tissue is punched, lifted and reattached.

Subcision, on the other hand, frees up the scar from the lower levels of the skin. Bruising can occur in the area that is treated.

Filler injections are also an option for deep scars. The problem with these injections is that the filler breaks down inside the body. Therefore, in order to maintain a smooth appearance you need repeated injections.

Scar creams can also be used to reduce the appearance of scar tissue. Keep in mind that creams will take much longer to work. However, they are the gentlest treatment you can find to deal with acne scars.

Pure rose hip oil or creams containing rose hip oil have been proven effective in the treatment of acne scars. This oil's high Vitamin C and Vitamin A content are ideal for dealing with the skin's imperfections. Used regularly, rose hip oil will greatly minimize your scars.

BIOSKINCARE is an excellent acne scars cream that contains snail serum as its main ingredient. This natural component aids acne scar removal while helping regenerate damaged skin. Other acne scar treatments that also contain this key ingredient include BIOSKINCLEAR and BIOACNECARE.
