Choose Your Wrinkle Cream Wisely by Checking Out Its Ingredients First

by Jen Hopkins

When looking at wrinkle creams, you will see that the ingredients would vary greatly from one cream to another. Some will make use of artificially made chemicals that are designed to fight the effects of aging, while others make use of natural ingredients obtained from plant products.

One of the most important ingredients used in wrinkle creams are peptides. These ingredients have many different actions which range from stimulating the body to produce more collagen and elastin, to stimulating cells to regenerate faster so that the older and ugly looking cells may be replaced.

Other ingredients in creams help the skin retain water and moisture. This moisturizing effect is important as the skin is able to become softer and smoother, not to mention it is also more resistant to damage if it is well hydrated. Just imagine how dry soil gets cracked very easily and then compare this to moist and slightly wet soil.

Another cause of the aging of the skin is antioxidants. These are wastes that are found in the body that takes some time before it can be eliminated. Its accumulation can cause damage to the cells of the body leading to a faster rate of aging. By eliminating these free radicals with the use of antioxidants in creams, the skin will remain looking younger for a much longer time.

Others still, make use of natural and organic ingredients to make the face look younger and eliminate wrinkles. These are usually obtained from plants that have been proven to have anti-aging effects. Their actions vary greatly, with some acting as great moisturizers while others may also have antioxidant effects.

Some creams may also have the added effect of providing protection for the skin. This is mainly by working as a sunscreen to protect the harmful UV rays of the sun from penetrating and causing damage to the body. These UV rays are an external cause of aging and preventing this can again slow down the aging process.

As you can see, most wrinkle creams combine different ingredients with different effects to provide a better overall effect on the skin. Focusing on just one aspect of anti-aging will not be very good in giving the impression that you are younger than your actual age.

When looking for a wrinkle cream to buy, be sure to look for one that makes use of a variety of ingredients that has differing actions to give you a better overall result. Aside from this, make sure that the ingredients are proven to work and the cream is compatible with your skin or you might just end up just throwing away your money.
