Acne Treatment for Mild Acne

by Sara Kitch

Acne is a very common occurrence during puberty. But even though everything seems to be clumped under the term "acne", there are actually different forms and degrees of acne.

Unfortunately, there are people that suffer from severe acne like acne conglobata or acne fulminans. For these people, it is necessary that they seek medical assistance unless, of course, they suffer from a milder form of acne vulgaris which can be treated with the proper cleansing routine and over the counter skin care products.

Here's how you can treat mild forms of acne:

The Right Cleansing Routine

Before seeing that first pimple appear it is important that you establish a regular cleansing routine. This is, by far, the best way of treating acne and keeping your skin smooth and glowing. It is also a good way to establish a healthy cleansing routine for the rest of your life.

A good cleansing routine starts off with a soapy cleanser. It's important that your cleanser contain an acne fighting component such as salicylic acid.

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that can help you regulate the production of sebum. It also promotes cell shedding that deters clogged pores. Both of these actions will help keep most acne problems under control.

After cleansing, use an oil-free toner to remove any soapy residue. And once a week you should use an exfoliator to help remove any lingering debris or dead skin cells while also helping prepare your skin to be moisturized.

The final step of your cleansing routine should be an oil-free moisturizer. If you have oily skin and are used to skipping this step, I strongly suggest you reconsider. Oily skin requires moisture just like any other skin type. However, the only difference is that you should use a water-based or light moisturizer.

Over-The-Counter Acne Products

Acne creams can be used regularly as part of your cleansing routine. When looking for this type of product, make sure that you purchase acne products that contain retinol, salicylic acid or sulfur so that you can help regulate the production of sebum.

Sulfur helps promote healing and retinol helps promote the production of epithelial cells. However, if you have dry or sensitive skin, you should moderate your use of products containing these ingredients. Use a thicker moisturizer to help soothe any burning sensation or simply use these products a couple of times a week.

Severe Acne - How to Treat it

If you suffer from cystic acne, acne fulminans, acne conglobata, or gram negative folliculitis, you should see a doctor. The severe inflammation caused by these types of acne will lead to extensive and noticeable scars. It is vital to begin treatment as soon possible.

But, before running off to by the strongest acne treatment you can find, be aware that some treatment options can produce irritation. For example, cystic acne treatment may require the use of tretinoin, which can cause mild irritation while acne cysts may require intralesional steroid shots.

A gentler acne treatment for cystic acne is BIOSKINFORTE. This natural cream contains a unique combination of botanical and biological ingredients that help moisturize skin, fight bacteria, and even treat acne scars. This is what makes BIOSKINFORTE the best acne treatment for stubborn and more serious forms of acne.
