Dry skin and the Adequate Acne Treatment

by Clarita Milles

Some sources claim that over 80% of the population suffers from some form of acne. You would think that acne breakouts affect mostly people with oily skin, however, this condition can also affect people with dry skin.

When acne presents itself in dry skin, the pimple will usually present itself underneath the surface of the skin. To treat acne and dry skin, a daily cleansing routine is vital. Without one your skin will be more vulnerable to acne bacteria and skin irritations.

Make sure that you understand that untreated acne can lead to acne scarring. Preventive acne treatment is definitely preferable to extensive and/or invasive scar treatment.

Firstly, cleanse your face twice a day with a cream cleanser. You can try a soapy cleanser, but dry skin usually reacts negatively to these types of cleansers. Exposing dry skin to soap or water can promote dryness.

Second, use an astringent to remove all remaining debris and to help close your pores. Astringents aimed to help eliminate black heads and blemishes are also available on the market. Once you've decided to purchase an astringent, avoid any that contains alcohol. This ingredient is known to cause irritation and can likely dry out your skin.

Finally, apply a moisturizer to protect your skin. Moisturizing dry skin is essential if you want to keep acne under control. Dry skin can lead to cracking, which can lead to worse problems.

These tiny openings are ideal for acne bacteria to enter. Therefore, keep your moisturizer on hand and reapply as needed throughout the day.

During the hotter summer months, it's a good idea to incorporate an acne product that contains retinoids or salicylic acid to your daily skin care routine. Since these products can be harsh, combine them with your usual cleanser to reduce possible irritation. Another viable option is to use them sparingly or only a few times during the week.

The Most Common Treatments for Acne Scars

If you do happen to develop acne scars, there are some treatments you can choose from. Some of the most common treatments include excision, subcision and acne scars creams.

Large areas of scar tissue are often treated using excision. In this case, the skin is removed and the edges are sutured together. If the area is too large, a skin graft may be necessary to close the portion of skin that has been removed. Rolling scars are usually treated with a procedure known as subcision. This surgical procedure requires a specialist to use a small needle or surgical scissors to release the upper skin from the underlying scar tissue. Sometimes a filler is required to plump-up the skin.

Acne scar creams are the most gentle and least invasive treatment. This type of product slowly removes scar tissue and helps replace it with new healthy skin cells.

Acne treatment is the first step in preventing the formation of acne scars. However, sometimes acne scarring is inevitable. If after having tried everything you discover yourself suffering from acne scars, then a natural acne scar removal cream, such as BIOSKINCARE, can help you deal with this problem in a gentle, yet effective way. It contains a potent natural ingredient - snail serum - that makes it ideal for acne scars treatment.
